Last week I wrote an article about the five effective holiday marketing strategies that you can use during the holiday to stay visible without disappearing on social or from your coaching business in general. And I published this article because I see so many coaches just suddenly disappear during the holiday. And honestly, I totally get it. It feels like it's been a long year. There's a lot of things to do that during the holidays, and you might want to take some time off. So totally understandable. But in this episode, I'm going to share the five effective holiday marketing strategies that doesn't require you extra to-do lists or extra bandwidth, but you can still stay in front of your audience. Let's get started.
Speaker 1:Hey coach, welcome to Make It Visible Podcast. I'm Michelle Quay, your visibility marketing coach, and I help female life coaches to get seen in all the right places, attract happy paying clients, and build a coaching business that actually feels good to run. Even if you are still trying to figure things out. Each week I'm giving you visibility tips, simple marketing strategies, and showing you how to create the kind of content that connects with your audience so that you can stand out, build your authority, and attract clients who's already feeling like a yes before they jump onto your discovery call. So grab a notebook, pour yourself a favorite drink, and that's make your coaching business visible.
Michelle Kuei:Okay, so holiday is upon us and two school of thoughts. One is you should be on social and you should be promoting like there's no tomorrow. And if you do not have a Black Friday sales, then you might want to consider coming up one because this is a great time that people are starting to look to buy. Now, there's the other side of the coin where some business mentor and coaches will tell you just take this time to reflect, to recover from the year of work, and this is a great time to think about the goals that you're going to have in 2026. Now, here's my thought. Your audience are expecting to see you no matter what month of the year or what season you're in, they expect to see you have some type of activity going on throughout the year. And that's how visibility works. And that is actually, my friend, how your social media algorithm works. So if you decided I'm going to go quiet for this whole holiday season, let's say it's starting in October, maybe kids are off from school and you have a full agenda that you have to take care of, and maybe you still work at a corporate job. So during this time of the year, all the things are start wrapping up and you need to get the numbers in before the new year's come. So from October, November, and December, what do you do? You stay busy and you stay pretty much quiet or silence because this is a time of the year where you start going into that hibernation mode. But if that is you, my friend, then there's something I need you to hear about this, okay? Because visibility, like I said, it's not something that you turn it on and turn it off and you're good to go, right? Your audience are expecting to see you. So there's that level of consistency that you need to maintain. You don't need to be full on present on social and being like doing all the things, but you should connect with your audience, with your friend. So here are five very easy and very genuine and authentic ways of how it would help you to stay visible, stay connected, and also stay grounded because you do want to take this time to reflect how the year went and what would be your goal for the upcoming year. You are in that planning mode of what do I want to do when the new years come? So here are the five easy, effective holiday marketing strategies, and you can apply it pretty much throughout the year. So the first one is this is a great time to reflect and reconnect without having to do putting out new offer or creating a holiday sales that feels like it's disconnected to your brand. This is a great time to reconnect with yourself, your messaging, your audience. If you've been neglecting talking to the people within your network, or maybe it's your friend circle, or maybe it's your family circle, this would be a great time of the year to actually reach out to them and say, hey, I've been thinking about you, how are you doing, and just catching up what happened, where the year went, where the time go. And maybe it's some of your past clients that you might be able to reach out to and just catch up with what they're up to. And you'll be surprised that during this time, how people remember you and how people are so open to receive your warm messages. So take this time to reflect and reconnect, and you don't have to market yourself. So if we think about marketing, sometimes it feels very salsy. It feels, oh, I have to show up like putting on the mask and I have to be all that, be someone who I am not. But you don't have to do that. Just show up being authentic and you care about people. So just go out there and make that connection. Reconnect with your past client, reconnect with your friend circle, reconnect with people that you have not spoken for quite some time. And ask them, what are you working on? And how can I be a service for? You can just offer some support, emotional support, mental support, whatever that looks like. So this would be a great time to reach out to them. Strategy number two is to deliver the value. I know you probably heard this so many times, but delivering the value, what does that mean? During this time, there is a lot of people who's stressed, who's feeling overwhelmed. So maybe you have a couple of tips that you use and that have worked for you to address the overwhelm, especially during the holiday season, or maybe for those who don't have any loved one to sit around for Thanksgiving dinner or holiday dinner, maybe those are the people that you can help and support. And so show up and just be genuine, talk to these people and addressing the fact that hey, I know you're out there and I know you may feel alone during this time of the season, but I totally get it. I totally understand. Here are some of the tips that have worked for me, and hopefully by sharing this, that would also work for you too. So that is what we mean by delivering value, understanding and making your audience feel that they are seen. Strategy number two. So that was simple, right? That doesn't require you to have any type of marketing skill, and that it should be something that you can do throughout the year. So, what are some of the examples? So, I'll give you some examples of what type of value that you can provide. So, let's say you have a life coaching business and you're a life coach. And what does that look like? It could be that here's a three-minute mindset reset before your family gathering. Sometimes a family gathering makes us very nervous and we don't know how to start or end the conversation during those family gatherings. So maybe you have a tip on three minutes mindset reset that you can offer to your audience. What will be another one? Why resting is still productive. Someone who is going through and who don't know how to set the boundary for themselves and taking time to enjoy the off season, maybe those are the people that you're helping. You can create content that talk about why reset or resting is still productive. So that would be another idea for you if you are in the life coach space. The third way of uh effective strategy during the holiday is to nurture your current audience. Like I said, there's a lot of people who have friend requested you, or maybe you added them as part of your friend circle, your network. This is a good time to connect with them. So maybe you didn't have time to send them a DM and say, hey, we connected and just wanted to get to know you, or just introduce yourself and just send them a warm holiday wishes, then this would be a great time to do that because now you're sitting there and you're browsing through television or trying to shop shopping network. This would be a great time to actually send them a DM or post something about your adventure during the holidays. Instead of chasing the new one, instead of looking for, oh, where can I find a new connection? Maybe this is a time to focus on the people who's already in your circle. Your followers, maybe it's your email list, maybe it's your podcast listener, maybe it's your past client or your peers, anyone you already know who's in your network, you want to reach out to them, just give them a thank you message, or send them a little nudge, or send them a little holiday wishes, anything that you can get to start that conversation. And people appreciate that gesture. This morning I actually receive a message from one of my coach friends. She sent me a message and she's thinking of you and wishing you a holiday. And so, just a message like that, it just makes you smile. If you receive it first thing in the morning, it just makes you smile and knowing that someone out there is thinking of you. So do that for your audience, your current audience, before you start chasing the new ones. Strategy number four is look for collaboration and maybe look for other podcasts or other similar collaboration that you would like to be on, to be in the new room. Now, this is something that I do very often, especially towards the end of the year, is that I would look for podcasts or I would respond to any podcast invites that would like me to speak to their audience because some of us we have slower season, like during the holiday, a lot of people are not thinking about signing up big package for coaching. But so it would be a great time to think about how I can build my visibility and build my authority, right? Build my credibility so that I am not completely off the grid. And by January comes, the podcast will be released, and there's a whole lot of momentum that's already in place, and I don't have to do extra work because I use the slow season to do the visibility, to do the authority building, to do the credibility building. So do not go silence, look for collaboration while everybody else is checking out for the holiday. You can still leverage this time to do some credibility and authority building. So consider that collaboration and be seen in the new room. Strategy number five is very simple. Simplify your marketing with just one aligned focus. So maybe you don't have enough time. Maybe you have relatives coming over, maybe you're busy to. I want to challenge you to just pick one task and one task only during the holiday. So it could be I'm just going to post every Monday, or I'm just going to post every Friday to give everybody an update. Or it could be just sending one email, or maybe writing one blog post or recording one podcast. And that would be your task for that month or for that week, whatever is reasonable and feasible to your schedule, to your calendar. You want to just focus on one simple task over the next four weeks because that allows you to keep up with your momentum without dropping it. And it also builds your content. So if you think about what I have just said now, focus on one thing and posting once every week, or writing a blog post, or recording a podcast, you get one piece of content every month. What do you do with that content? Now you can use that, you can repurpose it into a social media post. Maybe it's a video in the future. And in fact, the reason why I'm recording this podcast is because I already wrote that article and now you get to hear it in a podcast format. So I am going to link the article down in the description box below so that you, if you prefer reading or if you need to be out there and doing something and you rather read, then you can go ahead and read that article. But for those of you who's on a quick run, or maybe you're listening to the episode inside the car, then you get an opportunity to do the audio version. So one article, one podcast episode, there's multiple ways of how you can repurpose it in the future. Now, with all that said, one of the big mistakes I see a lot of live coaches run into is that they jump into marketing without doing the basic, they without doing the foundational step. Marketing is like your sixth and seventh step in that coaching business starting journey. If you think about starting a coaching business, it's climbing Machu Picchu. Like climbing Machu Picchu. You need to have preparation and steps in order to get to the top of the summit. I didn't just show up and woke up one day and then all of a sudden I'm on this Machu Picchu summit. I had to do a lot of preparation. So same thing with marketing. Before you get up to the summit and say, you know what? I can comfortably talk about my package. I can comfortably know that there's consistent inflow of clients coming in. Before you can do all that, there are actually seven steps of how you get there. And I created the client enrollment method, which involved these seven steps. The seven steps of what you need to do in order to get to the top of the summit. So now imagine your coaching business is on the top of the summit. You want clients to be in your coaching business. Where are they? They're all down there in the bottom of the foothill. They don't even know that you exist up there. So no matter how much you're shouting or how loud you're talking up on the summit, they're not going to be able to hear you. So you gotta create that step-by-step process to invite your potential client, your prospect, to come up with you so that you can change your lives. So how do you what are those seven steps? I actually created a seven-step coaching business starter checklist. It's more than just a checklist, it's actually an exercise that takes you through these seven steps to set you the foundation that you're going to need. It's a roadmap that shows you exactly what every profitable coaching business needs and where you might be missing a step. Again, I see a lot of light coaches jumping to the fact that, oh, I'm I got certified and therefore I'm going to jump straight into marketing. And that's where their marketing is not working for them. So I don't want that to happen to you. So go ahead and there's a link in the description in this episode. Go ahead and grab it. It's completely free. Seven-step coaching business starter checklist. You can grab it during the holiday, take some time to go through the exercise. And if you need, if you need it, I created an assessment based on the seven-step coaching business starter checklist. And these are the seven steps inside my client enrollment method. So the client enrollment method involves seven areas of each of these steps that you need in order to build that coaching business. Now I created an assessment for you so that you can see specifically which step is missing in your coaching business. Some of you may be the messaging, some of you may be the signature offer. So you might have like multiple different offers, and nobody is buying any one of these offers because you haven't figured out what is that signature offer and what does it do for people. So if you want to take that assessment, there's also a link in the description box down below. And when you take the assessment, what I will do is I will look at your assessment result and I'm going to personally record a video for you to walk you through exactly what is your next step. Now it's totally and entirely up to you. If after watching the video, you're clear, you're like, thank you so much. I got my clarity, I don't need anything else, then off you go. But if after watching the video and you realize that you need more support, I have a free strategy call that you can set up with me so we can talk about how to implement that missing step. So the assessment link is also in the description box down below. Go ahead and take the assessment. And like I said, once I get the assessment result in, I will go over it. I will personally record a video for you and I will send that over to you. Now, all this to say is during the holiday, please be visible. You don't have to do put on a full-on marketing show. You don't have to do all these Black Friday promotions every single day, which by the way I am doing. So make sure to check your email. If you're on my newsletter, make sure to check your email. I have something for you for every different level of coaching business you're in and for every budget that works for you. So be sure to check your email. You don't have to do all this, but at least, at the very least, be visible, try and connect with your audience so that they wouldn't forget you and it wouldn't be such an extra work by January when January comes. So comment down below and let me know, or hit reply to my email and let me know. I would love to hear what you're planning to do during the holiday season and what is that one task, one task that you're going to do for the next 30 days. Until then, happy coaching, and I will see you in the next episode. Thank you for listening to Make It Visible Podcast.
