Welcome back to Make it Visible Podcast. I'm your host, michelle Kui, and today I am sharing something incredibly close to my heart. Michelle:Probably I would say I highly recommend IPAC to all the newbie coaches who's interested to become a certified coach. I highly recommend the program. The program is great. You do end up spending a whole lot to invest in the program itself, but the reward the program itself is really rewarding. But nonetheless, here's what I think rewarding, but nonetheless, here's what I think Truthfully. I think the program itself is great, but what the coaching program didn't tell me is that, hey, once you become certified, you got to get out there and you're going to start market your coaching business and it's not as easy as many of the coaches had talked about. Some of these seasoned coaches, they've been doing this for years and years, right. So sometimes we go into that space of oh yeah, you'll get to it, you'll get, you'll finally get off. That's great.
Michelle:But when you're that person who's looking at your saving account, looking at your bank account and your money keep draining out and there's no input in, you start sitting there and getting very anxious. Right, tell me, that is you too. So I remember six years ago when I first started out this coaching business, I was sitting there and I was feeling very anxious, like where is the money and when is the money going to come in and it wasn't easy. And a lot of people said even one of my best friends. He's the owner of a local gym and he has a lot of clients and even he had told me that, oh, michelle, just expect that first year you're going to do a lot of free stuff. No, kidding, I felt like there's a lot of people who tell you right off the bat oh, just expect to do a lot of free stuff.
Michelle:And one of the things I truly believe is that marketing is a skill that anybody can learn and you don't have to spend your whole year just doing the free stuff. And this is why I created Profitable Coach Formula, because I truly believe that, starting from today, as you're listening to the podcast episode, if you've been doing a lot of things that's for free, today is a day to change that, because the reason why I created this coaching program is because I want to provide coaches with a clear, actionable path so that you know exactly how to create your own success when it comes to marketing. So we'll get to it. So let's get into it. When it comes to marketing, so we'll get to it. So let's get into it. Tension and get them excited to buy from you should never be the reason you give up on your dream to become a full-time coach. I'm all about making marketing the easiest part of your coaching business, so that you can turn a passion for coaching into a visible and profitable reality. So buckle up, ladies, let's get started.
Michelle:Okay, as I was saying, I've seen so many coaches with the drive and passion they wanted to serve. They get out there. They're ready to work, they're ready to roll up the sleeves and changing people's lives and helping them to see a different perspective. But they often struggle with how to articulate their value in the way that actually attracts their paying clients. Now, I'm not saying that you're not going to attract clients. I'm saying paying clients. Right, and earlier I was talking about that first year.
Michelle:A lot of people tell me that I had to do just expect doing things for free. Doing things for free it doesn't sound very appealing to you, does it? Especially to newbie coaches, and so we end up almost compromising for the fact that, oh, if I want to get this coaching business up and running, I should expect to work a lot for free. And so a lot of newbie coaches end up doing that. They're exchanging the barter because they don't want their skill to get rusty, but then, at the same time, they're not making any money because they're not putting themselves out there. They're not. Then, at the same time, they're not making any money because they're not putting themselves out there, they're not expecting much in return, so they're not asking for the sale, which I'm speaking from my experience as well. That was what I was doing six years ago and marketing is very interesting because I never got into marketing until I actually started this business and I realized from that, by doing all the things I had to do myself in front of more people, more audience and there's more view, right, there's more people liking and watching my videos. All that is going to help me to bring business in.
Michelle:If I don't have that audience, I don't have the visibility how can I possibly get any traction into the business? Yeah, sure, there's argument that hey, just tap into your inner circle your friends and family, people you already know. Maybe it's people that you work with. But how many clients can you actually generate from your inner circle? Probably not many, right? And then you're running into that situation of you're just relying on your referral.
Michelle:Now, sometimes I don't know about you, but every time I ask for a friend for a referral. It's like you have to keep following up with them, keep asking them. Hey, do you remember what I asked you? Or do you remember I told you about the fact that I became a life coach, or I became a coach or corporate coach whatever the coach that you wanted to pick that niche? You are expecting someone to remember what you're asking them. I don't know about you, but that is a very unreliable way to me at least. It sounds like a very unreliable way of running your business. You're depending on someone else's word of mouth to keep your business going and keep your business running.
Michelle:And so it's not just about the asking or who do you know, and just tapping into your friends and family circle. It's about being able to get out there and tell your story, being able to connect with the audience that is a complete stranger that might not know you, and being able to show them what you can do, what change you can make in their life. And so that's where the profitable coach formula comes in, because it's a problem that I keep seeing, and coaches spend so much money on these year-long program, hoping that they're going to find success, but what I end up finding is end up backing to where they started and still wondering how do I get clients. And I remember one of the email that I have received from a newbie coach who came to me and she was crying. She was like, on the Zoom call we're doing Zoom call and she was crying in front of me. She said she was ready, she got out.
Michelle:She spent a lot of money hiring a business coach. She ended up investing a lot of good time focusing on her niche, developing her signature methodology, and she spent so much money just creating some website that when she wake up and she's sharing to the world she's really happy and very proud of it. And she had almost everything, all the ducks in a row, right. Everything was in place. And when she jumped onto the discovery call first call, she had her script, her templates that she got from this business coach. She was ready to go and her heart was there. She was passionate about it.
Michelle:That first sales call, she was so nervous, right, she followed word by word and script by script on how that sales call was going to go. Of course, people buy on emotion, people buy on connection, people buy the energy and so, of course, course, that first sales call, the client was not interested, and so that was shocking, because I have this is what she said to me and she said I had everything in place, but that didn't go well and I even have the script that was ready in front of me. That didn't go well interested. The third one was not interested. The fourth one was not interested, and so at this point and she's there she's still crying on the Zoom call, at that point she was panicking because she already has spent so much money and time and energy in working and getting this far right and at this point she's asking herself what is wrong with me. And so she ended up not doing anything at all and so she wasn't focusing on anything and she wasn't starting anything on her coaching business. So she basically just put her coaching business on the hole on the side and so she started getting back to where she started.
Michelle:She was working a corporate job, so she went back to the corporate job, and so I hear stories like horrifying stories like this, like from newbie coaches and coaches who have reached out to me via email, and it just really break my heart to hear that you have to spend so much money, energy and time and you still haven't learned how to market yourself authentically and effectively. And so this is the main reason why I created this Profitable Coach Formula because the Profitable Coach Formula does not take you a whole year to do a lot of the things that you need to like the foundation you need to build. And what also set the profitable coach formula apart like no other, I can bet on money that there's no other marketing program that actually increase and incorporate storytelling, especially for life coaches and coaches who is in this empowerment field. There's no marketing program that's out there that actually incorporate the storytelling in their marketing strategy. And this is something that really makes the profitable coach formula standing apart, because it's not just a marketing strategy, it's not a business tactic. It's actually the heart of how you communicate your values so that you can bring and attract the dream clients or the paying clients. Because, truthfully, when you're able to articulate your own story in the way that really connect emotionally to your audience, what you're doing is you're actually creating trust, you're creating the relationship, you're building that connection. It allows you to do it a lot faster, and this is exactly how I started my life coaching business before I became a marketing coach before I became a visibility marketing coach. I became a marketing coach before I became a visibility marketing coach, and this is also like the storytelling part is also the part that makes people to say, hey, I'm really resonating with this, I can see the possibility of how I can do this. I need to work with you.
Michelle:The program itself obviously the storytelling is only one piece inside the program. I created the program because I wanted to be comprehensive. I wanted to make sure that you're not only telling your story. You're telling your story for a reason, and that reason is so that you can generate more sales, you can get more leads, you can actually run a business. And one of the things I believe and this is something that I teach to all my students and anyone who attend my bootcamp, you would know that this is something that I preach all the time is that how newbie coaches build business is that they focus on oh, I need to have the business, so let me hire a business coach first.
Michelle:And what you don't realize is that you can't have a business unless you actually have the leads, you actually have the audience, you have the demand. And how do you get the demand? You need your marketing right. So your marketing is going to fuel your business, your running operation, all the things that you need to do in your business, but without the marketing, you have no finance, you have no money that comes in to actually allow you to run the business. So, yeah, hiring a business coach is great and I encourage you to do that, but at the end of the day, when you're first starting out, you probably want to generate some money first before you can actually do all the things that you wanted to do in business operation, right? So it makes sense why you will focus actually on your marketing strategies first rather than oh, where do I apply my LLC? You don't even have enough assets to protect. Why should you worry about the LLC? If you think about some of the things that newbie coaches are thinking, it sounds great, I want to have a business. But you can't have a business if you don't have the marketing. You don't have the people. You don't have the marketing, you don't have the people. You don't have the demand. If there's no demand, no matter how much supplies you have, it doesn't matter. And so, throughout the profitable coach formula, I show you how to.
Michelle:Number one is to create your personal brand and being on a social media world or being an online space is so important to actually stand out from all these other coaches who are doing the same thing, right, especially in online space. There's so many and it's so noisy. So how do you differentiate yourself? And that's an art itself, and branding is something that I'm very passionate about. And story brand is probably something that's very commonly heard, because your storytelling is going to allow you to differentiate yourself, because everybody's story is different, and so I teach a lot in depth, especially in module number one and module number two, when we start identifying your niche, who your ideal client is. All these are just your foundation on how you built your business, and nowadays it's even more important to bring in your own story because now people are using AI left and right. So when you look around on social media, there's a lot of people using the AI. You can totally tell that they have used the AI because it's very scripted. It's very robotic that they line by line, just straight up, copy and paste it onto their own social. But with the magic of storytelling, you bring in a personal touch behind it and there's art behind how you do story, and just the other day I posted online that what storytelling is and is not. It is not a laundry list and most people, most coaches, when you look around what they get when they do storytelling, it usually looks like a laundry list. So that's one of the highlights that I have inside the Propable Coach Formula.
Michelle:There's a total of five modules, five training modules. One of the modules I focus on is creating your offer, because it's very important for newbie coaches to actually know what you're going to offer to your audience. And so how do you articulate that offer? You may create a methodology, you may create a signature methodology that you wanted to offer to your ideal clients, but if they can't see the value right, you don't know how to communicate or articulate that value to them. It wouldn't matter how beautiful you package this offer, they wouldn't want it. So this is where I see a lot of newbie coaches. They get stuck. They have the niche, they work on their niche, they work on their signature methodology. And now what? And so they end up still throwing that spaghettis around in marketing and trying to like it's a hit or miss. They have something to sell, but they don't know how to sell it.
Michelle:So at this point you might be asking okay, so, michelle, what is inside that profitable coach formula? So, basically, it's an eight week online coaching and this is not a generic course. It's a step-by-step system with the training module that's going to design to guide you through all the key elements, starting from how do you start from the foundation, right? So I talked about creating your own personal brand, identifying your unique value proposition, what do you have to bring onto the table, and also how do you scale your business. So later on, we also talk about how do you have to bring onto the table and also how do you scale your business. So we later on, we also talk about how do you create content so that more people can see your business. Your ideal client can actually find you on the online space.
Michelle:There's also live coaching hours with me, and this is also one of the unique thing about the Profitable Coach Formula I don't hand you over. I'll have a group session where I bring everybody together, if I wanted to address to everybody. And so you're part of that huge community that I created. So you're getting the support, you're getting the feedback and you're also getting the accountability to making sure that you're staying on track. And these coaching hours we meet every week so that there's no I'm going to be. This is something I tell my student all the time. I said I'm one of those people who would push you off the cliff, but I'm also going to hold your hand. And they start laughing because they can totally see that we're on coaching call. So there's definitely that accountability part. I'm like. You told me you were going to do this and what happened? And you also have access to my template. You get to.
Michelle:So I have created a lot of different assets and templates. So one of the things one of my clients who reached out to me because she had this opportunity to do a workshop and so she reached out to me she's Michelle, do you have something like this? Because I got this opportunity to do a workshop and I don't know where to begin. Listen, I have done so many things before you that I have created a whole lot of library of these templates Workshop, not a problem. So when I sent her my workshop templates and outlines, she was shocked. She was like oh my goodness, you're a lifesaver. Yeah, you get access to all these templates that I have created.
Michelle:I started out exactly where you are. I was a life coach. I was a mindset coach. These are the things I have done and created. Don't worry, I got you. You have my complete library of template. Anything that you need, you just ask. If I don't have it, don't worry, I will create that for you. You also have.
Michelle:So this is something that I kept thinking like. Okay, so you have the template, you have the community, you have the module, you have the live training. Call with me. What else do you need? So a lot of coaches who come to me, they wear multiple hats in their life. They're either mom or they work at a full-time job, so they have something else, they have some responsibility. Or they work at a full-time job, so they have something else, they have some responsibility. And so one of the things I keep hearing and I keep seeing is that everybody almost all coaches that I encounter they need a way of organizing their stuff, their asset, ideas, keeping track of all the record, so they need a centralized place in order to keep everything together.
Michelle:And so what I did was I am such a techie like a technology person, so I love technology and technology seems to be like it comes easy to me. So one of the things I created is I created a done for you coach console CRM. It works like a CRM. In case you don't know what CRM is, it's client relationship management application. So there's different forms and different types of them. Now I created this. It's a basically a centralized place where you can store your ideas, you can store your tasks, your daily activity, you can store your client's notes. You can, depending on how technology skills that you have, you might even be able to share your session notes directly with your client. You get to store your content ideas all in one place, so it's a really centralized hub where you can store everything that's coaching related in just one place. You can even journal right. So and I created it, it's a Notion template. So basically, once you get into the program, all you have to do is just duplicate that template copy and you have it right there in front of you and you can start using it.
Michelle:So that's one of the bonus I included inside the profitable coach formula, because I know a lot of coaches. You're wearing multiple hats and you're having multiple responsibility, so I wanted to make sure that you have a place that you can just keep everything centralized and organized. And this thing particularly become important later on when we're talking about your content creation. So you're doing storytelling, you're incorporating that into marketing, you're probably going to create a lot of content that you're going to share on social, and where do you keep them? And the last thing that I want you to do is being all scattered and feeling like overwhelmed. If you keep everything just in one place, it's going to help you tremendously. Michelle:The other bonus I've included was because coaches keep coming to me and they're saying, michelle, what do I write about? I'm running out of idea. How do I get more idea that I can create? Michelle:I got you, I'm giving you the ideas that you can create, and these are generalized, so, no matter what niche that you are in, you'll be able to use it and adapt it. And once you get in, obviously I'm going to show you how you can change any ideas and you can turn it into your own, and this is the superpower that I have. Right, and obviously I'm not going to create something like this if I'm not going to actually tell you how to use it. So you have 365 days of idea. Tell you how to use it. So you have 365 days of content idea that you're never going to run into that writer's block that you've been experiencing. Michelle:Now, a lot of my lady, my students in the program, they're sitting there and they're just drawing a blank. It happens to even the best of us Sometimes. Why? Because a lot of things that you're doing, there's no strategies, there's no planning, there's no purpose or intention and, of course, you're not getting any clients. If you're not getting any clients, your confidence level just dropped by half. And so the longer that you wait, the less confident you are about being a coach. And so earlier I told you about that story where the newbie coach was crying on the Zoom call. Had she actually came to me first, we would have addressed a lot of these problems for her.
Michelle:And one of the key things that the profitable coach formula is promising is that it makes your discovery call so much easier when you can demonstrate your value ahead of time. So by the time they jump onto your discovery call, your client is already saying yes. So your first client you didn't have to wait until experiencing multiple no's in order to get that one. Because what I'm teaching you inside is how do you take your client, build that trust, build that no factor even before they jump onto your discovery call. That's what I'm teaching you. So by the time they hop onto a call with you, they're pretty much already saying, yes, it's just a confirmation step, it's just something that's extra. They need to hear from you, they need to look at you so that they can actually know that, oh, I'm hiring a human being. So the idea is, what I'm teaching you inside is going to get you to the place where you don't need to wait until they get onto the call to prove your values to them, and that's what makes the Profitable Coach Formula not like others' business programs or marketing program that's out there.
